The Minority Transportation Consortium (MTC) is an organization of Minority and Women owned transportation firms seeking freight opportunities with large public and private sector shippers and their associated Supplier Diversity programs. The MTC was created to assist NMTA members in securing large contracts and to assist our partners in achieving their supplier diversity goals.
Identify, Recruit, and Certify qualified Minority and Women owned transportation firms to successfully participate in major contracting opportunities while assisting governmental agencies and corporations in achieving their national Supplier Diversity goals and objectives. By linking the well known market demand for good truckers with a pipeline of professional truckers and carriers that have the capacity to service well structured freight opportunities, the MTC is not only ready to meet any shipping need, but also increase the preparedness, prominence, and profitability of the most under-served segment of America’s Driving Force.
The MTC provides opportunities for small, medium and large minority owned carriers to earn contracts servicing large shippers and distribution networks. We are a growing and scalable network of trucking professionals with expertise in all forms of trucking. Each MTC member will complete specialized training in Logistics Business Management, Supplier Diversity (Bids & Contracts), Safety and Compliance, and Business Finance. Participation in the MTC requires NMTA Certification in all of these areas as a means to accessing more freight opportunities and elevation within the program. MTC members will, quite simply, be the best trained, best networked, best-run and resourced trucking enterprises to be found. Owner Operators or Carriers seeking to grow their companies, extend their influence, and build their businesses the right way will be interested in joining this network. Much of the heavy lifting of determining the right contacts within larger shipper networks, of preparing to earn and maintain large contracts, of knowing how to streamline business processes and avoid the pitfalls of this business is done by NMTA on behalf of MTC members. In addition, NMTA will provide resources to finance and maintain equipment, resources for the recruitment and management of drivers, and benefits across the board that will assist MTC members professionally as well as personally.
Enrolling in the Consortium:
Each MTC member must be a NMTA member in good standing seeking to grow and benefit from the goals of the program as stated above. All pertinent information such as the Consortium application, appropriate licensing, safety records, personal references, etc. must be in order and approved by the MTC Evaluation Board to gain admission and to qualify to carry freight. Within a year from enrollment, each MTC member MUST complete the NMTA certification program’s specialized training in Logistics Business Management, Safety and Compliance, Business Finance, and Contracts & Bids. Complete the attached application and let’s get started on a journey to success!
